Feast your eyes on: Rosa Mexicano
There's no missing the new restaurant on the downtown block. A bright beacon of pink letters now lights up the Minneapolis sky calling in all who crave food from south of the border.
Rosa Mexicano is a successful restaurant that got it start in New York City in 1984. They are famous for their frozen pomegranate margaritas (going with the theme, these are pretty in pink too) and tableside guacamole (you can almost picture the tree where they freshly picked the avocadoes)—we very much enjoyed both. The food is what they call authentic Mexican (although the atmosphere would beg to differ—think swank Vegas casino restaurant meets Crave) but there is certainly something for every type of diner.
The cocktails range from frozen margaritas to inspired creations like the 'flor de humo'—a smoky and sweet combination of tequila, mezcal, orange marmalade, St. Germain and fresh lime juice. You'll feel like you've just finished up a long day riding the range on your horse as you kick back in front of a campfire with this cocktail.
The service (even though it was opening night) was fantastic. Our sever was very knowledgeable about the offerings, had an upbeat and approachable attitude and made sure everything was served in a timely fashion. You can't put a price on great service.
