We were really looking forward to the opening of Mort's but very disappointed and will not return. The "kaiser" roll was a stale hamburger bun, we specified kosher corned beef but received thickly sliced regular corned beef instead. The borscht soup had lots of beef but no cabbage and was extremely salty and very thin. The server was attentive but does not make up for the food. Maybe our standards are too high - we grew up with Lincoln Del. A lot of food but pricey as so much is wasted because of the mediocre quality of the food.

Disappointing

Three people who come from towns that KNOW Jewish delicatessen came to Mort's looking for good bread and authentic home-style/deli cuisine. Two out of three deeply disappointed, the third was OK. Chopped liver was dry, and completely underseasoned. Smoked brisket was FATTYand sliced so thick that once it cooked down, it was like eating a chunk of grease. Rye bread was dry, lacked flavor, and had a soft crust. Third person liked the entire open-faced reuben sandwich. Waiter did not know that they had ginger ale and celery soda in the cooler, even though they were not on the menu. He was fairly attentive and pleasant, however. Atmosphere is good, especially seeing a lot of familiar faces...but will we see them again? Probably not, if the food doesn't improve. No amount of home-made potato chips can make up for bad meat. We're going back to Cecil's!

What a disspointment!

We were excited to see that Mort's had come to GV and we went to dinner on 11/15.

Where do we start?
--bland coffee
--bland potato pancakes
--wierd pickles and green tomatoes
--unseasoned potato salad
--dry cole slaw
--chewy matzo balls
--fatty corned beef
--disorganized waiter
--one entree came 10 minutes after the first (lost in the computer)
--if you want dessert, get up and go look at it

We have been to many a deli in several large cities and this is just awful and it is expensive. Save yourself time and money, go someplace else, anyplace else.
