With candles flickering along the bar, wine flowing from the bottle, and sumptuous aromas wafting from the kitchen, this Afghani restaurant is a perfect place to unwind. Famous for its organic lamb, kebabs and vegetarian entrees, Khyber Pass promises ethnic cuisine you can’t find anywhere else in the Twin Cities. Try the extremely popular vegetarian special: the kadu borani, a butternut squash braised with onion, tomato, garlic, and brown sugar. For dessert, the firni (a milk pudding with cardamom, rose water and crushed pistachios) is recommended, but the authentic chai tea can hold its own as a post-dinner treat.
