25. Smith's Olde Bar (Atlanta)
"I believe Smith's Olde Bar in Atlanta is a real right of passage for artists and performers coming up in the national scene," says singer-songwriter and Georgia native Josh Kelley. "So many of the greats have played there in the past and there is just this feeling of 'I'm on my way!' when you get off that stage." Smith's is especially well-known for booking folk, bluegrass and Americana artists, but they keep their calendar diverse; singer/rapper B.o.B. headlined a hip-hop night here shortly before his "Nothin' on You" became a worldwide smash. Other artists who have graced the 300-capacity room: Pete Yorn, Fishbone, Train and David Bowie (yes, that David Bowie).
