Twin Cities Roll Call

The 10,000 Lakes Festival going down July 22-25 in Detroit Lakes may at first glance appear to be targeted solely at the hemp necklace wearing granola set given the top billing of jam band icons Widespread Panic (headlining two nights of the fest) alongside the Dave Matthews Band, but take a closer look and you'll quickly realize the fest's lineup is remarkably deep, featuring an admirable breadth of sounds. So while festival attendees likely know not to sleep on big name national acts like Wilco and Gomez or hometown heroes Atmosphere, Mason Jennings and Cloud Cult they would be wise to set aside further time away from the campfire and hacky sack games to check out the following lesser known artists playing away from the main stage. With over 90 bands playing on six stages this is far from a definitive overview, just one music geek's take on some of the can't miss music taking place at the fest.
