With his film career heating up, Carell also landed the lead role in an anticipated TV series called "The Office." An Americanized take on a well-regarded British comedy, the show got off to a rocky start but built a loyal following. It has earned Carell several high profile awards and nominations, including a Golden Globe win last year.
