tommyrey wrote about Mill District Arts Gallery

The Mill District Arts Gallery is located in a nicely restored building (built in 1883) at 1023 Washington Ave South between Open Book and Big Brain Comics. It is an artist cooperative and at any one time there are 20 or so artists with works on exhibit and for sale. Prices range from $3.50 for notecards with original art to $500 for an original painting or print. Most items are under $100. There is a wide variety of art, including pottery, weaving, jewelry, photographs, cards, framed clay tiles, watercolors, paintings, prints and wearable art. The selection seems to change as artists come and go. A sign in their window says Local Artists, Local Art and the gallery is staffed by the artists themselves. They also offer classes in pottery, weaving and sewing but I haven't taken any of those. It has a neighborhood feel and is a nice place to visit for those living downtown Minneapolis or attending the nearby U of M.
