Northeast Art-a-Whirl
It's going to be crazy nice outside this weekend, and that's going to make it all that more attractive to head up to Northeast Minneapolis for the 2008 Art-A-Whirl.

Yeah, the art is inside. But you'll be walking in and out of so many galleries and artist spaces—not to mention theaters, bars and clubs—that you might want to bring your sunscreen.

Here's the quick and dirty on where to head for this year's Art-A-Whirl (and for a few more artist suggestions, check out l'etoile magazine's excellent art and party recommendations).
Northrup King Building

pick Northrup King Building

1500 Jackson Street N.E., Minneapolis

The must-hit spot of Art-A-Whirl, the 150 artists at Northrup King give you the most art bang for your whirling buck.

Thorp Building

1620 Central Ave. N.E., Minneapolis

Although it doesn't have the quantity of the Northrup King location, the Thorp still offers several galleries and several great artist shows throughout the weekend.

Lutefisk Sushi

It’s not a new take on raw fish—Lutefisk Sushi is the new boxed set of bite-sized comics from the Cartoonist Conspiracy that available this weekend at the Altered Esthetics gallery. Kristen talks with some of the cartoonists behind the conspiracy.
