Greg Swan, the Twearly adopter
Twitter bio: PR and social marketing strategist at @webershandwick | @wsmpls, music blogger at @perfectporridge, evangelist for @smshepherds, citizen journalist, father of 3
Joined Twitter: January 31, 2007, when only three people in the Twin Cities were using it.
What do you use Twitter for? Engaging with friends, influencers and the media. Keeping in touch with my kids while I'm traveling is big. I take a Batman action figure with me and pose it in front of places like the Empire State Building; it's created a following. It's also good for keeping track of my wife's mood before I get home.
Biggest Twitter takeaway: One-way communication becomes two-way communication on Twitter. Finding new music fans and bands to connect with for my blog and hearing breaking news from citizen-journalists.
Platform of Choice: Twitter app for iPhone.
Most bizarre tweet you've seen: I also tweet as Punxsutawney Phil (@GroundhogPhil) every Groundhog Day. People call him the 'other white meat' and want to give him the axe if spring doesn't arrive on time.
Any tweet you'd like to take back?: When my daughter was born, I tweeted out a picture of her and the picture was flipped in the wrong direction. I'd really like to have fixed that.
When you're not online, where can we find you?: For music, you will find me at First Avenue or the Varsity Theater. I am also involved in Minnesota Interactive Marketing Association (MIMA) events, fixing up a 120 year old house and chasing after three kids.
Favorite Tweeps: @Firstavenue, @VarsityTheater, @FakeAPStyleBook and @HistoricalTweet
Favorite Hash Tag: #HAPPO (Help A PR Pro Out)
Sample tweet: "Sirens in music should be banned. I just almost pulled myself over"
