I had a lot of fun there, I wanted to go somewhere different and was pleasantly surprised that I had as much fun as I did. I've heard there's been problems here but I didn't see anything other than a lot of people having a great time. I'll definitely be going back.

I invited some friends out to play Wingo on a Thursday night. They sent an ad to my house about it and had signs up in the restaurant. But apparently the manager didn't feel like having it that night. We asked why and he said there wasn't anyone to call the numbers. Hmmm, well you are just standing there watching TV so maybe you should call the numbers. I live in the neighborhood and thought this would be a fun place to go every Thursday night but now I'll never set foot in that place again.

Robert's Restaurant in Medina offers a shuttle to the game, also includes a drink and their Sunday buffet. The food is excellent, so it might be worth a try! www.medinaentertainment.com

If you want penny drinks on Saturday nights you head to Bar Fly. I really like it here. There are always a lot of people trying to buy drinks so it takes a couple minutes to get your drink, but usually just try to get there soon after they open to avoid this slight downfall. Besides that I love it and especially the stripper poles that you get to dance on! Plus the music is hip and edgy which I don't find in a lot of other clubs downtown.

I've seen a few shows at the Varisty, from rock to acoustic to new artist showcases. It's a great venue for anything! So glad its being used for something awesome now!

We stopped in to the 1029 bar thinking it would be a good time... until we spun the wheel on the wall for fun and were kicked out. Thats right, kicked out. THis man who didn't work there told us we should leave because the gambling wheel was "calibrated" which in plain english means they are rigging the system. So we left. Thanks a lot 1029, we'll see you NEVER.

I couldn't believe I found a restaurant that served home cooked, rib stickin great food! We had batter dipped fish and chips and chicken and dumplings. NUM! Also had on other visits; porcupine meatballs, paella, build my own burgers and salads. Also great Caeser and Buffalo Chicken salads. Good steaks and fun desserts! They've also got good happy hour deals on food and drinks. We've fallen for the chicken tacos!!!!!

In fairness to the establishment, the "Black and Tan" debacle mentioned below is not their fault. This summer, Guinness released a 250th anniversary brew. For some reason, this brew does not respond the same as regular Guinness, making a good Black and Tan impossible. I've seen this in other locations too. Oh well. That summer promotion is over and they've switched back to regular Guinness now, so we can all rest easy.

Went here this weekend with some lady friends and we should've turned around when we first stepped in and could smell some serious bile in the air. It was still early and people were staggeringly intoxicated. We're talking dresses accidentally tucked into underwear drunk. Also, the staff was terribly odd and seemingly either totally into the scene or so over it that they couldn't even be bothered. One bar-back was even seen with a gal in the ladies bathroom stall. Blech. Bartenders were slow, all surfaces (tables, chairs, sofas, bathrooms) were filthy and we left EARLY.

Noooooooooooooo... not more multi-level retail! Haven't they learned their lesson with the empty abyss that is Calhoun Square?
JunebugMusic wrote about Dugout Bar
My band was booked to play the Dugout in Mahtomedi on a Friday night. We had people on the way, excited and pumped for a great two-band bill that has rocked crowds in the Twin Cities and elsewhere. Both bands loaded in and we even had a successful soundcheck. At 9:20, Tom Bartholomew, the owner, pulled the plug because he wasn't happy with the number of people there at that moment. We told him that we knew people were coming and the place would be full by 10:00 or 10:30. That wasn't good enough for him. He told us to get out. Neither band performed, nor did we receive any compensation for our time. And Mahtomedi is not exactly our neighborhood. We drove a bit, you see. So we had to update our Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, etc. and make a lot of phone calls to let people know they needed to turn around and go home. Furthermore, when potential customers arrived expecting music and asked why there was no music, Tom Bartholomew, the owner, was rude to them. They left shouting their extreme frustration. Unbelievable. Horrible experience. If I could give him ZERO stars I would. Musicians -- If you ever get a gig at the Dug Out in Mahtomedi, BEWARE. You might not have a gig after all. Have a backup. In fact, play it safe - don't even book there. Patrons -- If you ever go to the Dug Out, you might get a finger in your face and treated horribly by the owner himself. Play it safe - don't even go in. Grab a burger and beer at Brother's or go down the block to The Flame.

BANDS BEWARE! DO NOT PLAY/BOOK HERE!! The booking agent booked us for $100 and told us the show started at 9:00pm - the show ACTUALLY started at 7:30pm, and we had to clear the stage for a rap show at 10:30pm. Thus, we had to scramble to get on the stage, and only had 20-30min to play. The bar did ZERO promotion - we sent them flyers and photos, and they didn't put anything up, even INSIDE THE BAR. There was a total of ZERO patrons there (on a Saturday night), and the owner of the bar REFUSED TO PAY OUR BAND. He told me I should go back to my hometown (4.5 hour drive) and email the booking agent asking to be paid. I told him that was ridiculous. He argued with me, saying "We won't give you a cent", and "It's not our job to do any promotion! Don't tell me how to run my bar!" The owner obviously has no idea of how to run a music venue, and it shows. Oh, and you get two drink tickets, which are good for 5oz glasses of Michelob. That's it - no rail drinks, nothing....just dixie cups of Michelob. This was THE WORST experience playing a traveling show our band has ever had. This bar is unwilling and unable to do any form of promotion, or even pay bands that play. Additionally, their website design makes finding out about shows ridiculously difficult. WE WILL NEVER PLAY HERE AGAIN, AND I STRONGLY CAUTION BANDS AGAINST BOOKING HERE!!!
