This classic,comfortable brewpub isn't necessarily the snobby beer connoisseur's turf, but for the young Uptowners looking to drink something decent and local, The Herkimer does the trick. The seasonal beers are often the tastiest of the taps, and the light lagers are smooth and simple.
If you can break away from your bar stool, you might be able to find a seat and order a juicy hamburger or a basket of beer-battered fish and chips, served with Herkimer's special pineapple tartar sauce, chipotle ketchup, fries and field greens. They also make a killer bloody mary.
