Yes, sometimes free tacos are great, and sometimes a free mashed potato bar is a fun way to fill up with an after work drink. But sometimes you're drinking with picky friends, or had a really long day and don't want to take chances, or whatever.
So sometimes you just want a simple, awesome happy hour, and that's what Saffron in the Warehouse district has from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Along with being one of the Twin Cities Originals, Saffron's happy hour is that rock solid special that's you'll always be able to go back to. Here's what that looks like—or tastes like, rather. The price cuts apply to beer and wine and specialty cocktails, and as if that wasn't enough Saffron's happy hour menu also offers small dishes that pack a lot of pop.
The easiest way to get introduced is "The Dude," Saffron's take on the Big Lebowski's drink of choice; this White Russian comes with vanilla Stoli for extra sweetness and cardamom milk for a bit a spice. There's also the yowza-yowza-yowza, a fruity mix that's close to a margarita, but adds a bit of mango and pineapple to patron.
If you're planning to have a few drinks after work, it helps to have some food, too. The happy hour menu doesn't have a bad option on it, and that makes it tough to pick a recommendation. The meatballs are spicy enough to warrant a sip of beer after each bite. The samosas with cucumber yogurt are delicious. The pair of Charmoula burgers are larger than bite-sized, but they only run $3.50, just like the rest of the happy hour menu.
The only drawback of Saffron's happy hour is that it ends at 6 p.m., and although that's a bit early for our liking, the same specials are back for late night hours (starting at 11 p.m.) as well. With the good food, variety of drink specials, and running twice a day, Saffron's happy hour will have you popping in more than just "sometimes."
