Since its founding in 1941, O’Gara’s has transitioned from neighborhood tap to thriving Irish pub to full-on local institution. The current incarnation’s dark wood interior and prominently displayed sports memorabilia should be familiar to any Irish pub aficionado, but O’Gara’s sets itself apart with sheer versatility. Choosy patrons will find three devoted bars: one each for high-end liquors, home-brewed beers and mainstream drafts and mixers. Local and national rock acts grace the bar’s Garage stage on weekends, while jazz and big band acts play the Shamrock Room on Monday and Tuesdays.
