As we near the last stop on our Metromix mini-pub crawl, let’s do a quick review. We guzzled a few Guinness’s at Merlins Rest, danced the night away at A La Salsa, rolled with a new experience at Jade Sushi, and struck a perfect ten at the Bryant Lake Bowl.
Riding high from our luck with both bowling and beer, we jumped on the 21 bus once again. Soon the masses of cluttered storefronts with neon signs along Lake Street turn into winding roads lined with leafy trees. We feel the breeze from Lake Calhoun as we step off the bus at our final destination for the night—The View Restaurant and Bar.
Open the doors and you’ll be instantly surrounded by Twin Cities’ trendiest. This upbeat, contemporary lounge draws a chic crowd, but without the attitude. And if you grab a seat by the window, you'll stay put for awhile, since happy hour runs every night until 1 a.m.
The wine list is endless and the martinis will have you feeling as good as the prices. The dinner menu is just as good as the drinks and atmosphere, too. Choose from specialties like filet mignon, stuffed shrimp, smoked chicken fettuccini and margherita pizza.
If this isn’t enough to entice you, stop by on a Thursday to check out live music from some of the best acoustic bands in the Twin Cities.
As we kick our feet up and enjoy the view from the windows, we can’t help but smile. We made it through our Metromix pub-crawl exactly as we planned…Five miles. Five hours. Five bars. Five beers. And we sure are glad we did.
